10 LTTE rebels reportedly killed in Sri Lanka Navy attack

Sri Lanka's Navy destroyed a suspected Tamil Tiger boat and damaged another early on Monday while on a routine patrol near Trincomalee.

Naval sources here were quoted as saying that the confrontation took place at around 4.30 a.m. this morning. They confirmed that naval fast-attack boats and ground troops destroyed one of the boats around 40 km north of Trincomalee, and took a second one into their custody.

One MPMG (Multi Purpose Machine Gun), one 0.50 Heavy Machine Gun, one T-56 weapon and three Out Board Motors (OBM) of 85 horse power have been captured after the encounter.
