Despite heavy rains, an impressive procession on the Anant Chaturdashi was taken out here today on the culmination day of 10-day-long Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
The star attraction of the procession was the 12-feet-long and 8-feet-wide image of Lord Ganesh. The procession started from multi-purpose school complex at around 2 pm after a puja.
Security was tight during the procession as on this vary day communal riots were broken out nearly 15 years back in which a few persons were also killed.
Nearly 3,500 policemen were also deployed to maintain law and order and as a precaution all the government dispensaries and hospitals were opened throughout the day.
