Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today ruled out dropping Forest Minister C Chenigappa, who is facing a bribery charge, after a VCD purpotedly showing him accepting cash became public. "No such question before me", Kumaraswamy told reporters firmly when asked if he was considering dropping Chenigappa, a day after a video grab from a VCD was aired by some TV channels and published in newspapers here. The VCD has emerged mysteriously and was circulated to a section of the media yesterday. Suspended BJP legislator Janardhana Reddy had recently alleged that the Chief Minister, Home Minister M P Prakash and Chenigappa had amassed Rs 150 crore as bribe from mine-owners in Bellary district. "I will not bother about the VCD or tapes. I do not want to react to it", Kumaraswamy, on whose behalf the government has already filed a criminal defamation suit against Reddy for levelling bribetaking charge against him, said. He said the matter was already before the court and a Judicial Commission of Inquiry had also been appointed by the government into illegal mining activities since 2000 and Reddy could place the material before them. "The subject is in the court. In that context, I do not want to react (on VCD)", Kumaraswamy said. Reddy has also moved the Karnataka High Court seeking a CBI probe into bribetaking charge made by him, besides filing a case in a Bellary court against Kumaraswamy, Prakash and Chenigappa for making "defamatory" comments about him after he levelled the corruption charge. Meanwhile, Chenigappa has dismissed the VCD as being "doctored" and a step to "malign him". The JDS-BJP government has also denied receiving money from anyone.
