Concurrent ImaGen Visual Servers Selected By Saab Aerosystems for Gripen Simulator Program

By: Computer News

Concurrent Computer Corporation (NASDAQ:CCUR), a leading provider of time-critical Linux® operating systems, integrated software and computer solutions for mission-critical applications, today announced that its ImaGen™ visual server powered by RedHawk™ Linux has been selected by Saab Aerosystems of Sweden as their image generator (IG) of choice, to be recommended for visuals in Saab-built simulators including the Gripen simulator program. The company announced that it has received its initial purchase order from Saab on behalf of one of their customers.

“Compared to the other IG solutions we evaluated, Concurrent’s ImaGen proved to be the best choice for commercial off-the-shelf based visual simulation given its high-quality real-time visuals at an economic price,” said Mr. Jörgen Degerstedt, Manager Training Simulators at Saab Aerosystems. “Our use of Concurrent's simulation host platforms has always been very positive for us, so it was a natural step to choose Concurrent. ImaGen continues to provide a solid real-time Linux foundation that we will build on while passing on the overall value to our end-users.”

"We are extremely honored to have been endorsed by Saab as their recommended provider of visualization technology," said Ken Jackson, VP of Special Systems, Concurrent. “Concurrent has embraced imaging technology advancements with an eye on delivering robust features and economical benefits to best serve our customers. We look forward to furthering our partnership with Saab to deliver the highest PC-IG value in the industry.”

Concurrent ImaGen visual servers provide multiple channels of state-of-the-art visualization and graphics performance ideal for applications requiring enhanced realism and the ability to process very large amounts of input data. Typical applications include civil and military simulation and training, mission planning, scientific and medical visualization, architectural design and energy exploration. With ImaGen, high-end image generation (once achievable only on large, costly, dedicated visual systems) is now available on servers employing COTS graphics and real-time Linux technology.
