Eid-ul-Zuha celebrated in Uttar Pradesh

Amidst tight security arrangements, Muslims across Uttar Pradesh today celebrated Eid-ul-Zuha by offering prayers at mosques and sacrificed goats and sheeps.

In the state capital, the prayers were held at Eidgah, Tilewali Masjid, where the largest congregation was seen. Prayers were also held at Asifi Imambara and various other mosques.

After offering namaz, they sacrificed goats and sheeps and exchange greetings and embraced each other.

Central security forces as well as PAC were deployed in large numbers in 12 sensitive locality of the city in wake of Saddam's execution.

Tension was prevailing in these areas as Sunni Muslims have expressed resentment over the execution and the shia community had hailed the decision.

In the temple town of Ayodhya, namaz was offered at Mughalpura, Begumpura, Kotia and other mosques where a number of political leaders also reached to greet Muslims.

Home Department officials said there were no reports of any untoward incident in the state.

In Kanpur, thousands of muslims participated in the namaz at Bari Eidgah and exchanged greeting with Hindu, Sikh and Christian brothern who had also assembled there.

Various social and political parties had setup camps near Eidgah to exchange greetings.
