Inmarsat’s FleetBroadband service – officially launched today – now forms an integral part of Vizada’s broadband offering. Vizada is a leading global provider of mobile and fixed satellite communications solutions for merchant ships, oil & gas platforms, fishing boats and many more. FleetBroadband is the latest addition to Inmarsat’s Fleet family of services providing simultaneous broadband voice and data. It offers IP services via a Standard IP connection at speeds up to 432 kbps over a shared channel allowing email, Internet and intranet access. On demand, guaranteed streaming connections at rates up to 256 kbps can be used for applications such as videoconferencing. It also provides a 64 kbps ISDN connection and SMS service. By combining standardized and industry-leading services such as FleetBroadband with its own range of integrated solutions, Vizada offers ship managers and IT & communications officers a full package to optimize their business. These solutions cover the needs of maritime industry personnel both on board ship and based on shore. Vizada’s Terralink® interconnection solution harnesses the high-speed data possibilities offered by FleetBroadband to provide a secure link from the vessel to the corporate network. It can be tailored to the shipping company’s network infrastructure demands and upgraded/downgraded according to traffic levels. A single, dedicated link ensures high security and optimized transmission speeds. Satellite Direct™ is a Vizada fixed-to-mobile solution enabling shipping company employees, and agents on shore to inexpensively and rapidly contact vessels through a toll-free number. On board, ship personnel benefit from FleetBroadband’s simultaneous voice & data functionality, enabling them to send emails (or other data) at the same time as they make and receive voice calls. SkyFile Mail is an onboard messaging solution compressing data sent by email, fax and SMS to reduce communications costs. SkyFile Mail configurations from billing rates to subaccounts can be managed from shore through the remote configuration tool. Vizada combines the strengths of two of the industry’s longest-standing providers; the former Telenor Satellite Services and France Telecom Mobile Satellite Communications. Vizada’s new maritime broadband offering harnesses over 60 years’ combined experience serving maritime customers’ needs and developing reliable and simple solutions for use at sea. “As a provider of multi-satellite network operator services, Vizada is pleased to work together with Inmarsat to offer FleetBroadband. We see it as a powerful new service for the maritime market and our channel partners are eager to start selling it,” said Bob Baker, President and COO, Vizada Americas.
