Chhatisgarh's Damodar Genesh Bapat has been awarded the 10th Ahilyabai national award for his "unparallel" service to the leprosy patients. The award, instituted by Shri Ahiloyotsav Samiti, carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh (collected through people's cooperation), a citation and a memento, Samiti's working president Ashok Daga told reporters here today. The award would be presented to Bapat, of Champa in Janjgir district by the former Speaker of Lok Sabha and MP, Manohar Joshi at a function here on September 12. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan were scheduled to attend the function, he added.
