Madurai Corporation saves on power

The City Corporation has saved Rs.42 lakh on Electricity in North Zone alone in the last one year ending January-2007 by using an automatic power saving equipment--Salzer Energy Saver.

According to a release from the City commissioner D.J.Dinakarren the equipment was put on trial in the last 12 months and it was a great success,as the corporation could save 30 per cent of power in north zone alone.

The equipment automatically operated the street lights and thus saved money on engaging electricians for switching on the street lights.It also regulated the power supply and provided the amount of power required for lighting.

The street lights could be monitored from a control room also.
