A 45-year-old Muslim today slit his throat with a sharp-edged knife and sacrificed himself at the shrine of Ghazi Baba here on the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha, police said.
A note was recovered from Moharrum Ali's possession which said "I was sacrificing my life as I once dreamt Allah asking me to offer myself for sacrifice," Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar told PTI.
He said a sharp-edged weapon was also recovered near his body.
Moharrum Ali had earlier made an unsuccessful attempt to sacrifice himself at the shrine a couple of years back, the SP said.
Prima facie, it appeared to be an act of suicide guided by religious fantacism, Kumar said, adding the matter was being investigated.
