New Delhi, Dec 29 : The state-run National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will set up a 500MW thermal power plant at Trincomalee in Sri Lanka.
"The NTPC and the Sri Lankan government signed an agreement Friday at Colombo to commence the process of selection of the site for this project," an NTPC statement said Friday.
The plant will commence operations from 2011.
The project will involve an investment of $500 million and will be implemented by a joint venture company in which the NTPC and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will have equal stakes.
