A naxalite was killed today in a gun battle with police in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. A joint police party of CRPF and district forces clashed with armed naxalites in Aranpur jungle of Jagargunda police station area, about 550 kms from the state capital, police said. The exchange of fire continued for about half an hour, in which one naxalite was killed, where as other rebels escaped to the jungles, police said. Police recovered a rifle and a bomb among other things from the encounter site, police added.
