Alleging that online trading, black marketing and hoarding had contributed to price rise, PMK founder S Ramadoss today demanded that all essential commodities be sold through PDS outlets to reverse the trend. "Though increase in buying capacity and lack of improvement in production has contributed to price rise, online trading has resulted in increase in hoarding and black marketting," he told reporters after releasing a model draft budget prepared by the party. Ramadoss suggested setting up cold chain storage systems to help stabilise vegetable prices. He also urged the Tamil Nadu government to issue a price list of all essential commodities every month and said welfare schemes should be targetted towards the really needy sections. The PMK leader said said the model draft budget contained suggestions for preparing a low-deficit budget without any taxes, while containing plans for poverty alleviation and employment generation. The PMK's draft budget has plans to maintain four per cent economic growth in the agriculture sector and also measures to control price rise, he said, adding it contains proposals to revive the co-operative sector.
