Rs 50 lakh worth ivory seized in Chhattisgarh

Police today seized ivory worth Rs 50 lakh and arrested two inter-state smugglers in this connection here.

"The ivory seized today weigh 14 kg and are worth over Rs 50 lakh in the international market," Raigarh Superintendent of Police Dipanshu Kabra told PTI.

After receiving a tip-off that a gang of ivory smugglers was operating in Raigarh, a trap was laid and today two members of the gang were arrested, Kabra said.

Both have been booked under the Wildlife Protection Act and are being interrogated, he said.
