Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today denied involvement of his BJP government in 'Salwa Judum' and said the people's campaign against Maoists was the only way to end naxalism in the country. "Salwa Judum is the only way to end naxalism in the country," Singh said at a book-release function here. Refuting allegations that the anti-naxal campaign is a BJP-sponsered one, he said no political party can run a Gandhian movement against the naxalites, who are laced with sophisticated weapons like AK-47. "A political party or government can gather crowd and even organise a rally but can not ask people to face AK-47," the Chief Minister said and praised the people who are bravely facing the naxalite threat with their armless-campaign. He also set aside criticism pointed towards him in connection with the campaign, which was started on June 6, 2005. "I believe Salwa Judum is the best way and without bothering about others stand I have been proceeding ahead. If any one has a better model, let them come forward and we can discuss that also, but till then we can not seat idle," he said. The Chief Minister said Chhattisgarh can upset the conspiracy of the naxalites to create a "red corridor" from Pashupati in Nepal to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. Singh said he strongly believed democracy was the answer to any problem.
