A kidnapped Sri Lankan Tamil journalist was released this morning after a nearly day of captivity. Nadaraja Guruparan, a member of the minority Tamil community, said he was forced out of his car as he drove to his radio station, Surayan FM, yesterday, but treated well by his captors. Guruparan, however, declined to discuss his abductors. "They took me blind folded and brought me back the same way...They had a few questions and thereafter they released me this morning," Guruparan said over his radio network. Police Inspector-General Chandra Fernando said they needed the journalist's cooperation to track down those who abducted him. "He must cooperate with us to get the people who abducted him," Fernando said. Dozens of colleagues demonstrated outside the main railway station here yesterday demanding his release.
