Amid slogans of "Ganapati Bappa Moriya" and "Ganesh Bhagwan ki jai" thousands of Ganesh idols of different shapes and sizes were immersed in Hussainsagar lake here today. The main procession started from Balapur in old city area and passed through historical Charminar, Afzalgunj, Siddiamger Bazar, M J Market and Basheerbagh areas in South, West and Central zones of city police limits. The main attraction of the Ganesh procession was 40 feet tall idol of famous Khairtabad Ganesh. Weighing 20 tonnes, Khairtabad Ganesh is 40 feet tall and 24 feet wide. Elaborate security arrangements were made for peaceful conduct of immersion with the deployment of about 22,000 police personnel including Rapid Action Force in the city and adjoining Ranga Reddy district.
