Upset over son's decision, Parents end lives

Despondent over their son, working in Singapore, not heeding their pleas to stay in India, an aged couple set themselves ablaze at Muthupatti near here today, police said.

The first son of Pandi (70) and Maniammal (65) was employed in Australia. They had married off their two daughters and were residing in a nearby area. But after his leg was amputated, Pandi, a diabetic, had asked his second son Sudhakaran, who had come for a visit here from Singapore, to stay, police said.

However, his son wanted to go back.

The couple's charred bodies were found in their room.
